WARDEN DPS BUILD
“DEFROST”
“DEFROST”
If you are looking for an easy and quite chill (literally) DPS build for ESO, this Magicka Warden build is the one you want! It has great single target, AOE damage and insane sustain. This build is great for beginners and mid-level players in ESO and is really fun to use.
BREAKING DOWN THE BUILD
CLASS: WARDEN
Every class in ESO has a “theme”, and the warden theme is all about ice and animals. The ice aspect of the class is really cool and really fun to use.
RACE: BRETON
Breton is a great race for this build due to their Magicka Mastery racial passive, that decreases the cost of magicka skills by 7%. Other options for this build include magicka based races like High Elf and Dark Elf, that will push the DPS a little, and also Khajiit for their magicka regeneration and critical damage. If you want an in depth look at all the racial passives, you can check our race guide.
BUFF FOOD: LONG FIN PASTY WITH MELON SAUCE
This food is easy to attain and will add to all three pools, giving you increased magicka, health and stamina for battle. The ingredients are Fish, Melon, Greens and Frost Mirriam, but if you cannot make it yourself, it is fairly cheap on guild traders.

POTIONS:
With the insane amount of magicka recovery from this build we don’t even need to use potions, but if you want you can use the cheap potion that drops from enemies, any other buff advanced potions gives you is covered by our skills.
ATTRIBUTE POINTS:
We are rocking an insane amount of magicka and magicka recovery, what will help us to not have to worry about running out of magicka ever, and a good amount of health and stamina, so put all 64 attribute points into magicka. The end goal of this build is 39k magicka, 21k health and 17k stamina, with 2000 magicka recovery.

MUNDUS STONE: The Shadow (increase our critical damage and critical healing).
SKILLS
You want to aim for these skills, but the order you slot them is totally a personal preference. All the skills we are using are really easy to get to, and some of them we are slotting it just to make use of their passives.
MAIN BAR
Screaming Cliff Racer | Deep Fissure | Inner Light | Winter’s Revenge | Bird of Prey | Eternal Guardian |
---|
BACK BAR
Unstable Wall of Elements | Blue Betty | Inner Light | Fetcher Infection | Bird of Prey | Eternal Guardian |
---|
Unstable Wall of Elements
Wall of Elements morph (Weapon section –> Destruction Staff tree). This will chill enemies, cast it whenever it is off cooldown.
Blue Betty
Betty Netch morph (Class section –> Animal Companions tree). You want this up all the time because it gives you lots of benefits.
Inner Light
Mage Light morph Guild section (Mages Guild tree). We are not activating this skill, it is there just for the benefit it has by just being slotted.
Fetcher Infection
Swarm morph (Class section –> Animal Companions tree). Crucial skill on this build, it synergizes well with one of the sets we are using, so cast it whenever it is off cooldown.
Bird of Prey
Falcon Swiftness morph (Class section –> Animal Companions tree). Again not using this skill, it’s there just for the slotted effect.
Eternal Guardian (Ultimate)
Feral Guardian morph (Class section –> Animal Companions tree). Does tons of damage during the execute phase, as since it is a pet, it needs to be slotted on both bars.
Screaming Cliff Racer
Dive morph (Class section –> Animal Companions tree). Your main spammable on the second bar, stay away from the target when using it, for increased damage.
Deep Fissure
Scorch morph (Class Section –> Animal Companions tree). Use it before and after spamming Screaming Cliff Racer.
Winter’s Revenge
Impaling Shards (Class section –> Winter’s Embrace section tree). Awesome AOE that can also apply status effect, just like the others, use it whenever it’s off cooldown.
Alternative Skills
The point of this build is to make everything simple but still strong, but if you are a more advanced player, you can change Inner Light from the front bar for Barbed Trap (Trap Beast morph), a Fighters Guild skill. You can also slot the Psijic guild skill Channeled Acceleration if you have it unlocked or doesn’t mind grinding the Psijic skill line.
PASSIVE SKILLS
Class: All Animal Companions passives, all Winter’s Embrace passives, only the Maturation passive from the Green Balance tree.
Weapon: All Destruction Staff passives.
Armor: All Light Armor passives.
Racial: All Racial passives.
Guild: Banish the Wicked from Fighters Guild. Magicka Controller from Mages Guild. All Undaunted Passives.
Craft: Medicinal Use from the Alchemy tree.
ARMOR
We are using a combination of two ice themed sets with a fire themed Monster Helm, so we are freezing our enemies with the ice and defrosting with the fire from the monster set. If you want, you can change both Ice Staffs for Inferno Staffs, that will do a little bit of extra damage, and also change the traits from the jewelry for bloodthirst, to push the damage a little bit more too, at the expense of some magicka. There’s also two more options of monster sets, the Valkyn Skoria and Zaan, the first is a good base game alternative in case you don’t have Domihaus, and the last is good if you want to focus more on single target damage.
Also, if you want some starter sets to use on this build while farming the other sets, you can go with Mother’s Sorrow and Law of Julianos.
