TEMPLAR 2H TANK BUILD
“TAUNT EVERYTHING”
“TAUNT EVERYTHING”
This Templar 2h Tank Build is a very unorthodox build, still viable for a lot of content but our main focus here is doing something easy to use and REALLY fun, using a specific set mechanic that allows us to taunt everything and still survive with insane shields for lots of damage mitigation.
BREAKING DOWN THE BUILD
CLASS: TEMPLAR
Templar is not the most popular tank class, but we are using it because the class actually has lots of shield skills and utility effects for tanks to help our survivability.
RACE: NORD/ARGONIAN
Nord on the other hand is always a staple for tanks, and so are argonians. You can use any of these two races and it will work greatly, argonians have a resource bonus but we are using nords for the extra ultimate regeneration. But on stream you’ll see me use Argonian because my community bullied me into it :).
BUFF FOOD: LONG FIN PASTY WITH MELON SAUCE
This food is easy to attain and will add to all three pools, giving you increased magicka, health and stamina for battle. The ingredients are Fish, Melon, Greens and Frost Mirriam, but if you cannot make it yourself, it is fairly cheap on guild traders.

POTIONS:
For this Templar 2h Tank build basically any potions you want to use will work, be it those normal common potions that drop from enemies, using it as needed, or tri-stat potions, or even the crown potions that you get from daily rewards. But if you are doing vet content, tri-stat/crown potions are more recommended.
ATTRIBUTE POINTS:
We have quite a bit of every resource, a really good amount of health with 45k, and a bit more magicka than stamina, and that’s because we have something that will boost our stamina pool. So the points distribution is: 48 points into Health, 4 points into stamina and 12 points into magicka.

MUNDUS STONE: The Lord (Increase maximum health)
SKILLS
The order you slot it is totally personal preference, just make sure you aim to get all of these skills.
MAIN BAR
Brawler | Stampede | Repentance | Silver Leash | Luminous Shards | Empowering Sweep |
---|
BACK BAR
Pierce Armor | Restoring Focus | Living Dark | Blazing Shield | Razor Caltrops | Solar Disturbance |
---|
Brawler: Cleave morph. Weapons section, Two Handed tree. This is an AOE skill that provides you with a shield for each enemy hit, and synergizes well with our sets.
Stampede: Critical Charge morph. Weapons section, Two Handed tree. A great gap closer, but this is actually our main taunt skill. The skill itself doesn’t taunt, but when using one of our sets, it will.
Repentance: Restoring Aura morph. Class section, Restoring Light tree. This is an awesome resource regeneration tool, plus it gives you a lot of buffs just by having it slotted.
Silver Leash: Silver Bolts morph. Guild section, Fighters Guild tree. This will pull the enemies close to you, a great skill to group enemies.
Luminous Shards: Spear Shards morph. Class section, Aedric Spear tree. It’s just a solid skill to use to help your team with resources.
Empowering Sweep (Ultimate): Radial Sweep morph. Class section, Aedric Spear tree. This ultimate synergizes well with our sets and also it’s a pretty solid skill, with a good damage and low ultimate cost.
Pierce Armor: Puncture morph. Weapons section, One Hand and Shield tree. Your single target melee taunt, good for debuffing bosses.
Restoring Focus: Rune Focus morph. Class section, Restoring Light tree. This will heal you and also recover your stamina quickly, plus it gives you a good increase in physical and spell resistances.
Living Dark: Eclipse morph. Class section, Dawn’s Wrath tree. It’s a shield that snare enemies and also heals you everytime you take direct damage.
Blazing Shield: Sun Shield morph. Class section, Aedric Spear tree. This is gonna give you a huge damage shield that can get even bigger the more enemies there’s close to you when you activate it, and at the end will damage close enemies.
Razor Caltrops: Caltrops morph. Alliance War section, Assault tree. A huge AOE that applies Major Breach to enemies and also snare them. A great skill for mob packs
Solar Disturbance (Ultimate): Nova morph. Class section, Dawn’s Wrath tree. This is a great ultimate, tons of damage that also decreases enemies damage done, and also a good synergy that your team can activate to stun enemies.
PASSIVE SKILLS
Class: All Aedric Spear passives minus Piercing Spear. All Dawn’s Wrath passives. All Restoring Light passives.
Weapon: All Two Handed passives. All One Hand and Shield passives.
Guild: All Undaunted passives. Slayer, Banish the Wicked and Skilled Tracker from Fighters Guild.
Armor: All Heavy Armor passives. Light and Medium armor passives optional.
Racial: All Nord passives.
Craft: Medicinal Use from the Alchemy tree.
ARMOR
The first set that we are running is one of the new sets from the Rockgrove Trial in Blackwood. What this set does is provide Major Force for your team when you use an ultimate ability, increasing their critical damage by 20%, and the amount of time they are buffed is based on how much ultimate was spent. For example, using Solar Disturbance would buff your team for 14 seconds. Our Monster Set, Thurvokun, is a pretty solid tanking set as it debuffs enemies when you take damage, decreasing their damage done, health recovery and healing received. Now the heart and soul of this build: the Tormentor set. It is a pretty simple and easy to get set, but with a very unique mechanic attached to it, it makes your leap, charge, teleport and pull skills also taunt enemies, effectively providing the only way to have an AOE taunt in ESO. Stampede is a leap skill and a AOE skill, so yes, it will taunt EVERYTHING in the area. It also works with Silver Leash, if there’s archers in the distance annoying your team you can just pull them to you and they will also be taunted.
For alternatives the main one we recommend is that you can switch the Saxhleel set for Yolnahkriin. They are somewhat similar, while Saxhleel provides Major Force that increases the Critical Damage of your team when you use an ultimate, Yolnahkriin provides Minor Courage that increases the weapon and spell damage of your team. Yolnahkriin always has been a staple set for tanks, so you cannot go wrong when using it. You can also switch the Monster Set for anything that you like, that’s a pretty free space.
