NECROMANCER DPS BUILD
“BEGINNER MAGCRO”
“BEGINNER MAGCRO”
This Magicka DPS build will focus on simplifying the necromancer for players that aren’t as advanced in ESO. This will have a beginner setup but also a final form as well. Magicka Necromancers can dish out a lot of damage but they do take some practice and understanding to master. This build will dish out loads of AOE damage while also sustain pretty well.
BREAKING DOWN THE BUILD
CLASS: NECROMANCER
Necromancers are some of my favorite classes in the game. The animations are amazing, they have stupid powerful skills and passives, and you can really utilize a lot of their class skills. This build is no different, and we are going to try to play on the strong suits of aoe damage passives we have, and use the elements we have to our disposal to with the necromancer skills.
RACE: BRETON
Bretons are just such great beginner Magicka DPS races because they have cost reduction of Magicka skills and it just helps beginners with sustain. You can definitely use high elf, dark elf, or any race you want. But Breton is what I have used in this video.
BUFF FOOD: LONG FIN PASTY WITH MELON SAUCE
This food is easy to attain and will add to all three pools, giving you increased Magicka, health and stamina for battle. The ingredients are Fish, Melon, Greens and Frost Mirriam, but if you cannot make it yourself, it is fairly cheap on guild traders.

POTIONS:
I usually just use tri-stat potions because the gem crates you get from ZOS and the daily rewards give millions of them.
ATTRIBUTE POINTS:
We have 64 points into Magicka, which gives us a ton of Magicka. And without any buffs we are at over 60 percent spell critical which is great.

MUNDUS STONE: We are using the thief mundus stone for that boost in spell critical, again you can use shadow but I am using thief for this build.
SKILLS
You want to aim for these skills, but the order you slot them is totally a personal preference.
MAIN BAR
Degeneration | Stalking Blastbones | Inner Light | Force Pulse | Mystic Siphon | Glacial Colossus |
---|
BACK BAR
Unstable Wall of Elements | Necrotic Potency | Inner Light | Skeletal Arcanist | Avid Boneyard | Elemental Rage |
---|
Degeneration – Mages Guild Line – This is going to do a ton of magic damage over certain amount of time. This is going to get major sorcery as well that will boost your spell damage for 20 seconds.
Stalking Blastbones – Grave Lord Line – Does a ton of damage to enemies, and it is an aoe. This is important because of our passives. You are going to have this up a lot of the time.
Inner Light – Mages Guild Line – This is on our bar just for the passive benefit of max Magicka increase and spell critical. That’s it, never use this skill.
Force Pulse – Destruction Staff Line – This is your main spammable and the catalyst of the build. I love this spammable because it hits like a truck, it does all elemental damage and magic damage as well. Its so good for aoe and single target.
Mystic Siphon – Grave Lord Line – This does shock damage, but you need a corpse for it, so it’s a little tricky using it so make sure to watch the video on how to use it. Either way this hits for a lot and while its slotted we get a 3 percent damage boost.
Colossus (Ultimate) – Grave Lord Line – This is a powerhouse ultimate and one of the best ones in the game. This will inflict Minor Vulnerability which will have the target take more damage, so this helps your team out.
Unstable Wall of Elements – Destruction Staff – This is just a fantastic aoe and dot for us. You want this up at all times.
Necrotic Potency – Bone Tyrant Line – This skill is just a powerhouse for necromancer. It heals you but it also gives ultimate back per corpse consumed. There will be a lot of corpses on the ground when playing and the more you consume the more ultimate back you will get. This helps you chain ultimates.
Inner Light – Mages Guild Line – This is on our bar just for the passive benefit of max Magicka increase and spell critical. That’s it, never use this skill.
Skeletal Arcanist – Grave Lord Line – A great pet damaging skill that you don’t have to have on two bars like the sorcerer. This will do solid aoe damage and make a corpse for you. It will also do Shock damage
Avid Boneyard – Grave Lord Line -This is your best aoe, this thing hits like a truck, and gives a synergy that you can activate or your teammates that will do even more damage. this also does ice damage.
Elemental Rage (Ultimate) – Great destro staff ultimate, does insane burst damage
Alternative Skills:
You can switch necrotic potency out and inner light out on your back bar with skills of your choosing, I just like having those on there for extra Magicka and the ultimate regeneration.
PASSIVE SKILLS
These are the passives I would prioritize. As you get more skills points feel free to put more points into other things. But These passives are crucial to helping you really increase your effectiveness. All of the Necromancer Passives are just insane.
Class: All Class Passives with the exception with 2 passives (curative curse and near death experience) from the living death line, but I would just get all of them, because the Necromancer passives are fantastic.
Weapon: All Destruction Staff Passives.
Armor: All Light Armor , then go for medium and heavy after that
Racial: All Racial passives.
Guild: All undaunted passives, banished the wicked from fighters guild. Mages Guild – Mage Adept, Everlasting Magic, Magicka Controller, Might of the Guild.
Craft: Medicinal Use from the Alchemy tree.
ARMOR
These items sets really synergize well with the necromancer. In the final form, Mother’s Sorrow just gives us loads of spell Critical. Valkyn Skoria plays well with all of our damage over time effects as necromancers so you will proc this all the time. And Elemental Catalyst is a set I have wanted to use for so long. This is always going to be up, benefiting you and your teammates at all times due to the increased critical damage taken to enemies. You will hit all three elements with one click of the button with force pulse. You also have ice damage with boneyard and colossus. You have shock damage with siphon and your arcanist pet. You have flame damage with your staff and blastbones. It really synergizes well with the necromancer.

CHAMPION POINTS
WARFARE TREE
Moving your mouse over the stars in the CP screen will give you more info of what it does. If you don’t have many skill points, don’t worry, just pick what you can and how much you can. Only the slottable ones are listed, the rest is up to your preference.
- Fighting Finesse (Slot)
- Deadly Aim (Slot)
- Biting Aura (Slot)
- Thaumaturge (Slot)
You can put other points into other non-slottable cp stars and the ones you need to get the slottable ones.
FITNESS TREE
- Ironclad(Slot)
- Rejuvenation (Slot)
- Survival Instinct (Slot)
- Siphoning Spells (Slot)
The rest of the points put into what you want in the red tree and the ones you need to get the slottables.
CRAFT TREE
This tree is kind of open to anything, just pick what you like, it doesn’t matter for combat. If you want suggestions, I would say Liquid Efficiency, Rationer and Treasure Hunter are always a good choice.
ROTATION
The rotation is as simple as I could get it for you all –
Summon Mage > Wall elements > Graveyard > Switch bars
make sure to light attack between skills
Degeneration > Blastbones > Force > Force > Force > Siphon > switch bars
Wall > Graveyard > Heavy Attack > Mage > Repeat
Make sure to light attack or try to light attack between every skill. Practice this to get better at it. (it will increase overall dps)
