ESO GUILD STORE & TRADER GUIDE

AN INTRO TO HOW GUILD STORES AND TRADERS WORK

GUILD STORE? TRADERS?

Guild Traders are vendors that allow the public to purchase from Guilds stores. Most of them can be found running their Guild Kiosks in major settlements, not far from a wayshrine. Some of the traders set up their kiosks near the wayshrines in the Tamriel wilderness. Each outlaws refuge also has a guild trader.

HOW DO GUILD TRADERS WORK?

Guild traders in ESO allow players to buy and sell items between other members of their guilds and players outside of their guilds. Trading guilds spend gold to bid on a trader somewhere in Tamriel, with different locations costing more or less depending on the number of guilds bidding on a particular trader. Bidding happens each week, with the highest bidder getting the trading spot on Tuesday evening of each week and holding it until the following week unless they can outbid other guilds looking to claim that spot. The cost of a guild trader that received no bids is around 10K gold, but bidding can take the total cost up to 20+ million gold in some of the highest trafficked areas.

Due to this cost, it can be incredibly difficult for a guild to become a trading guild, and many trading guilds are very strict about members keeping a full stock of items for sale or donating a certain amount weekly to the guild to help cover the expense. For this reason, our PC NA guilds, Necrodaddys and Necropappas, have not taken the step of trying to become a trading guild, however, the Brahfia hopes to have one in the future. As it is, both NecroDaddys and NecroPapas have internal guild stores which allow us to sell to each other.

HOW DO GUILD STORES WORK?

Guild stores are internal, members only, areas that allow you to buy and sell items to other guild mates. You can access the guild store through any public banker in any city in Tamriel. When you click on the banker you will see multiple options to choose from, including bank, guild bank and guild store. If you select guild store, you will be taken to the store interface where you will be able to select which guild you would like to view the store for. If the guild you are in also has a guild trader, anything you put up for sale in one of these guild stores will also be available on the public facing guild trader.

Accessing the guild store

To sell an item, you will simply need to go to the “Sell” tab in the guild store. Once there, select the item you want to sell and choose the price you want to sell it at. This price is completely up to you, but the decision to buy at that price is also up to the buyer. When pricing items it is good to keep in mind the price others are selling the same or similar items at by either browsing guild traders, looking up the price on Tamriel Trade Center, or installing an addon like Master Merchant, Awesome Guild Store or Arkadius Trade Tools. Typically, you want to try and list your item for a similar or slightly lower price than other items listed for sale to stay competitive and get your item sold. If you list an item too high, people will not buy it, and if you list too low you will be losing out on potential profits.

Once you have listed an item you can find it under the “Listings” tab in the guild store. This will show everything you have listed for sale on that particular guild store and you will also be able to cancel the listing from this page if you decide you no longer want to sell it on that guild store. When your item sells, you will receive a notice in your mailbox stating the item sold with your profits attached. The actual amount you get is the total price minus listing fee and the house cut (tax). These numbers are set by the game and the guild has no control over how much is charged. You cannot list items for sale that are account bound such as dungeon drops or level rewards.

THE ADDON “MASTER MERCHANT” IS YOUR FRIEND!

As mentioned above, one of the ways to get a price for an item you want to sell is by using the Master Merchant addon on PC. This addon will scan all guilds you are a member of and returns the number of sales over a given time period (default setting being 30 days) and how much the item sold for on average as well as the highest and lowest prices. This is helpful for determining a base price for the item as well as helping you see how many people are buying that item to give you an idea of how quickly it will sell.

One way you can use this to your advantage is when you are buying things from guild traders to be sold at other traders for a profit. This is a money making method that will be detailed further in a future guide here on the website so stay tuned for that.

Being a member of a trading guild can be very lucrative but can also take a lot of work to stay competitive in the market. It is usually a good idea to try and join at least one so you have the ability to sell things to other players and make some decent gold on an item that might only sell to the in game merchant for 30-40 gold. Make sure that you read all the info about any trading guild you apply for and join and follow their requirements to remain a member. If you do not donate enough or have enough things listed in the guild store you could wind up being removed from the guild. If you have any questions about anything not covered here or need further clarification we have several expert traders in the Brahfia Discord that will be happy to help!
